The newly formed Bolton Wanderers Supporters Focus Group had their first meeting at the Reebok Stadium on 12th June 2013.
The meeting was chaired by Richard Gough, Head of Public Sales, whom was also joined by other officials from within the club. The Supporters Focus Group, made up of approximately 21 members of the public (whom also are fans of the club), discussed a variety of topics which included;
- Improving the overall customer experience as well as matchday experiences for fans,
- How attendance on matchdays can be increased,
- The Club’s website, which has been noted to be quite difficult to navigate and browse,
- News items regarding the club are very slow to appear on the website hence fans get their ‘fix’ from fan related sites such as this one.
Bolton Wanderers have in the past taken to different methods in order to gain feedback from the fan base, however this is the first time the club have asked a collective set of fans to get together with club officials and discuss what is going wrong and what can be done to improve the communication between fans and the club.
One thing we don’t quite understand at this present moment in time is what role the Bolton Wanderers Supporters’ Association will now have due to the Bolton Wanderers Supporters Focus Group being formed. Maybe this will be clearer over the next few months, after the Focus Group has had a few meetings or so.
